mercado on a whim

j wanted to get shawarma rice, i wanted to get shawarma and zagu for lunch, so we both decided to go to the nearest savemore despite the lack of sleep. and then, i told him we better hoard at least 10 one litre bottle of iced tea because they're on sale. (: and so we did. it's going to be death by iced tea.

then we found ourselves in one of those chinese factory stores that sells everything from toothbrushes to barrettes. i got myself some sparkly barrettes. ΓΌ

we were feeling a bit adventurous despite the rain that we went inside the mercado that smells like rotten dead things, we asked a few ladies to help us find a store that sells meringue. the meringues we found were short of our expectations. they were huge and not colored. i want food coloring and all the crazy additives in my baked sugar. and we got some mints and sampaloc candies. it was like a typical pinoy childhood sari sari store experience.

and we got apples, ponkans, and mangoes from the mercado fruit stalls.

the boy's sense of adventure is a bit berserk sometimes. but still..

chanson du soleil

-

"Some things don't last forever, but some things do. Like a good song, or a good book, or a good memory you can take out and unfold in your darkest times, pressing down on the corners and peering in close, hoping you still recognize the person you see there."Sarah Dessen

weather's wonderful cuz we got to sleep all day, woke up 4pm and cooked. i made herbed rice and embutido in tomato sauce and made melon juice. and the boyf asked me if we can eat out cuz well, he said my rice is too salty but what he meant was, i'm such a bad cook, even i would not eat what i served. oh fml.

(: glaring at me is the fact that i ultimately cannot cook.

my TN attacks had zeroed in. i think i already have the remission. but, i'm not gonna celebrate. i still eat healthy. think inasal, fish, and broccoli kinda healthy. haha.

-

i got an impromptu invite to be a godmother to Cee's daughter Nayeli. what joy would that be. free dinner and a new godchild.

so we had a lovely dedication dinner in apollo restaurant and had the chance to catch up with Cee and Rica who made me think that we should really move to taguig or makati. either way.

-

everyone's growing up but me. anyway, i still have 10 years to fix my retirement. i have a year left to be a twenty-something tumbleweed but it's not going to be everlasting.

it feels odd; like when everyone's on the family way and getting married, i feel as though i will not fit in the category.

oh well, it's always great to pick the long way round. when traveling ithaca, you might've experienced her on every pit stops. so at the moment i'm in the phoenician market on road to ithaca.

segue:
i don't think i should be guilty if i got a new purse from mango on payday then. haha.
i also truly miss my little imp, kenji. i wish dich would take him home this week.

sometimes a look in someone’s eyes

realized how lucky i am to be spending late nights working and having coffee that makes your throat dry and have lots and lots of carbonated drinks and lots of gossiping and exchanges of life stories about friendship, family, motherhood, being a daughter, relationship, and love.

i love my girl friends and the guy friends who i meet along the way.

things would change in a matter of months, years. my 4 years in this city whose name literally meant a little hump had been wonderful. sometimes i wish i could stay longer and retire here. sometimes i wish i were anywhere but here.

tonight, the city is my friend. and it's lovely.

One of the strange things about living in the world is that it is only now and then one is quite sure one is going to live forever and ever and ever. One knows it sometimes when one gets up at the tender solemn dawn-time and goes out and stands out and throws one’s head far back and looks up and up and watches the pale sky slowly changing and flushing and marvelous unknown things happening until the East almost makes one cry out and one’s heart stands still at the strange unchanging majesty of the rising of the sun—which has been happening every morning for thousands and thousands and thousands of years. One knows it then for a moment or so. And one knows it sometimes when one stands by oneself in a wood at sunset and the mysterious deep gold stillness slanting through and under the branches seems to be saying slowly again and again something one cannot quite hear, however much one tries. Then sometimes the immense quiet of the dark blue at night with the millions of stars waiting and watching makes one sure; and sometimes a sound of far-off music makes it true; and sometimes a look in someone’s eyes.
