panaad date

april 4,2011

The Panaad sa Negros Festival, also called the Panaad Festival, is a festival held annually during the month of April in Bacolod City, the capital of Negros Occidental province in the Philippines. Panaad is the Hiligaynon word for "vow" or "promise"; the festival is a form of thanksgiving to Divine Providence and commemoration of a vow in exchange for a good life.[1] The celebration is held at the Panaad Park, which also houses the Panaad Stadium, and is participated in by the 13 cities and 19 towns of the province. For this reason, the province dubs it the "mother" of all its festivals.[2] (wiki)

our place is just adjacent to the panaad stadium. so j and i decided to just walk(yes, we walked) and had dinner there. inasal and oysters. j ate the oysters, i only had a couple. whilst going around, i got tons of street food- mango shake, soft twirlee ice cream, and corn on the cob.

j tells me of his memory at the place as a child. and showed me where they used to "swim" - an old brook that has dried up now.

we saw kids rummaging thru the dumpsters too. i just wish people would stop getting pregnant when they would wind up letting their kids go out at night and sort garbage. :(
